Coaching FAQs

For new students, I will provide Two free hours with the purchase of eight hours.

Purchase 10 hours and receive three free hours.

Purchase 12 hours and receive four free hours.

More than 15 hours purchased will receive free time on a case-by-case
basis.

Big O, PLO8, mental game, and professional poker coaching are billed at $300/hour. This includes, but is not limited to, phone calls, Skype calls, in-person discussions, breaking down hands in email, and video analysis of your play.

The minimum number of hours required to begin coaching is eight. This means that a $2,400 minimum retainer is required to begin coaching. I have learned through experience that anything less tends to leave students with more questions than answers and generally hurts their development. I only accept students who are committed to learn a professional game and are ready to do what it takes to be a winner. I am not the type of coach that will give out information to anyone willing to pay for it, regardless of the impact. I take pride in my students developing an effective, professional game and I see their results as a reflection on me. Therefore, minimum times must be purchased to ensure that positive results are achieved.

Compared to other coaches out there, I charge on the lower end of the scale. I have friends who have paid $500/hour and even $1500/hour for coaching from a well-known tournament crusher. I charge what I charge because I get results and I believe my price is both competitive and fair. I know how to make you a winner and how to snap you out of a continuing a cycle of bad habits that make you lose money in poker. The cost of losing money at poker is much more than I charge. Also, the information you retain from coaching is kept with you forever. Coaching is expensive because I will show you what it takes to be a winner for the rest of your life.

Once I receive your payment for a coaching retainer, I will email you within 24 hours with a questionnaire to get to know you and your goals. After I receive your questionnaire answers, I will schedule our first call. After coaching begins, scheduling coaching calls or learning sessions is 100% your responsibility. Learning is at your pace, and I do not pressure students to use the time they have paid for. Things happen, people disappear, people leave poker abruptly, and life gets in the way. Your game is your responsibility, therefore, so is taking the time to get better.

This totally depends on you and how you learn. I have had a wide variety of students from all walks of life, and everyone is different. Some students just “get it.” A very rare few simply do not and cannot. Thankfully, I am able to explain most things in a way that the “some do not” crowd understands. Since 2017, I have only had one single student who tapped out himself because he did not have the ability to “get it”. There are concepts that must be understood if you are to become a winner. Some students get this after reading Volume I of SCOOP! and some take 20 hours of coaching to understand the basics. Some players can be stamped a legitimate Phase III professional after only eight hours of instruction.

I do not reveal who my students are unless they give me permission to do so. If you do not want anyone knowing you are getting coaching from me, I will say nothing unless directed to do so by you.

Generally, the answer is no, but it is recommended. Once our business relationship is established, I do not require an eight-hour minimum on additional time. Most students purchase additional time past their first eight-hour retainer because they understand how much more there is to learn and how far they still have to go. This can be done at your own pace and once a business relationship is established, additional time can be purchased in blocks of time that are easiest for you. That may be four, six, or even twenty hour blocks with a bunch of free hours added. This is completely up to you and where you would like to be in your learning. You will know what you need when the time comes. A vast majority of students who sign on for one eight-hour block of time end up purchasing at least one more eight-hour block because their winnings from their improvements generally cover their coaching expenses by several times over.

I am accepting new students as long as a few basic minimums are met. For example, I will only coach a certain number of players in a single poker market. I do not do short, “pick your brain” sessions—this is for your own good—and I do not coach everyone who asks to sign on. I do not coach students on tournament play because I am not qualified to do so.

I only coach games I feel I am qualified to give advice on in a professional manner. I currently coach small stakes NL, fixed limit, and mixed game students. I am 100% NOT qualified to give advice on tournaments or PLO since there is an entire Army of poker coaches out there for those formats. I do coach mental game and overall professional poker regardless of your preferred/regular games or format.

I accept Venmo, PayPal, credit cards, cash in person (if applicable), and in the store on this site.

All active students get access to my library of videos, hand analysis sessions, webinar materials, recorded coaching sessions, live stream analysis, and unreleased material when it becomes relevant. I also share material from other students with my group of active students when appropriate. Most importantly, you get support throughout your journey to becoming a winning player. I cannot guarantee you will assimilate every piece of advice you are given, but I can promise that you will get a tidal wave of good and valuable information.

I have a strict six-months-no-contact policy for all active invoices. If you do not schedule any coaching whatsoever after six months, all remaining time paid for is forfeited on day 181. For this reason, all retainers/time previously paid is non-refundable.

Generally, I will spend at least one call getting to know you and your game as best I can. This way, I am able to discover where you are in your development and what concepts you do and do not understand before we get started. I must know you and your game before I can improve you and your game. If you’re already a professional card player, you probably won’t need to talk about what beats what and how the Low hand works. But I can tell you that the end goal is the same with every student: I will teach you a professional game and I will guide you through the process of getting better.

Generally, the answer is no, but with a few exceptions. I try not coach players that I play against, but I would consider it in certain markets if strict guidelines were followed regarding not playing on the same table. Keep in mind, this is for your protection, not mine. It is 100% not fair to you to play against me since I’ll know everything you’re doing and why. There are certain cities and poker markets that I will not accept new students from due to a high number of students already playing in those markets. I do not want to hurt the game by training more winners than the games can sustain.
